Why CWIC exists

CWIC facilitates joint working among infrastructure organisations in order to:

Provide support and services to voluntary organisations and community groups

Maximise resources, skills and expertise

Reduce unnecessary duplication of activity

Improve the strategic work and impact of infrastructure organisations

Influence policy initiatives at all levels

Champion the voluntary and community sector to decision and policy-makers, funders, and the sector itself

Achievements of CWIC so far

Developed the Coventry and Warwickshire Learning Consortium to provide a strategic and co-ordinated approach to workforce development in the local sector

Using ChangeUp funding, piloted IlluminateICT in three localities: providing practical support to local organisations

Taken a lead role in the sectors involvement in the development of local area agreements

Developed trustee networks to support the governance of organisations

Improved joint working between infrastructure organisations at both sub-regional and local levels

Piloted a new trustees network

Piloted three new-look newsletters across the sub-region

Contributed to the development and implementation of the governments ChangeUp strategy

Appointed a manager and set up a membership process

Future plans for CWIC

Develop a Voluntary Sector Assembly

Develop a Virtual Library a web-based source of information for the sector.

Develop joint databases to improve knowledge of and access to the sector.

Review working arrangements between Volunteer Centres and CVSs
