vinvolved, the national youth volunteering project for 16 - 25 year olds, has continued to operate across Coventry and Warwickshire. In 2009 - 2010 882 volunteers were brokered across the area, exceeding the target by 232 and 4,361 opportunities created against a target of 2,340. V Volunteers worked on group projects art events such as Coventry Half Marathon, a Make a Difference Day event with Coventry University and the Love Music Hate Racism Festival in Kenilworth as well as individually volunteering with for example Crimestoppers, with children with disabilities and as office volunteers.
National Volunteers' Week 2010
Events to celebrate National Volunteers' Week this year took place as part of the South Warwickshire Volunteering Forum. ‘Volunteering Roadshows' took place in Stratford, Leamington and Rugby and a ‘Networking Breakfast' for members, i.e. Volunteer-Involving Organisations, took place in Leamington. The Roadshows saw information on volunteering handed out to over 1400 people and the Breakfast was attended by over 40 people. The events were seen as a great success.
All 5 Volunteer Centres in Warwickshire are in a joint VCQA process which will see a countywide submission to Volunteering England in the Autumn.
